Don’t Give Up?

Don’t leave here
only to send me
motivational videos
about not giving up.

The irony is out there
hanging from a live oak
twisting tightly
in a subtle warm breeze.

“Don’t give up,”
the speaker said,
“On things that are
important to you.”

But now you’re gone.
Packed up and moved on.
You gave up
or we were of little
importance.

Don’t worry.
I won’t give up
to the loneliness.
I will just give in
and accept it all.
